Canggu has always attracted people who move. Surfers were first, then yogis, then the fitness crowd that followed the gyms and healthy cafes south from Ubud. Today the streets are full of runners at dawn, breathwork circles on the beach, and cold plunge tubs tucked behind co-working spaces.
The wellness scene here is real. But it can also feel scattered. There are dozens of classes, clubs, and pop-up events on any given week, most promoted through Instagram stories that disappear in 24 hours. Finding a consistent community, one that shows up week after week and becomes part of your routine, takes more effort than it should.
That is what we set out to build at The Dog House.
We call our community arm The Pack. It works on two levels: a group of people moving together, and a pack of dogs. Both are central to who we are.
The Pack is not a membership program or an app. It is a collection of recurring events, partnerships, and rituals that bring people to the cafe for something beyond food. Some come to run. Some come to sit quietly with their thoughts. Some come because they heard about a thing on Thursday morning and decided to see what it was about.
What they find is a room full of people who showed up for the same reason.
Every Monday at 7am, we host Morning Flow. It is a wellness morning built around journaling, breathwork, and intention setting. Fifteen to twenty people sit together in the cafe before it opens to the public. There is no instructor standing at the front lecturing. It is facilitated, not performed. The format is simple and the atmosphere is calm.
The session runs for about an hour and ends with a conscious breakfast from our kitchen. Free range eggs, zero seed oils, full macro transparency on every dish. The food is part of the experience, not an afterthought.
Morning Flow exists because mornings set the tone for the week, and most people spend Monday morning reacting to emails instead of deciding how they want to show up. One hour of stillness before the noise starts changes the shape of the day. People who come once tend to come back.
Running in Canggu has exploded over the past two years. Clubs like Rise Run Bali and IndoRunners have built serious communities around weekly group runs. The energy at these events is infectious: every pace is welcome, nobody gets left behind, and the social element is just as important as the kilometres.
The Dog House partners with these clubs as the start and finish line. Runners meet at the cafe, hit the streets of Canggu together, and come back for breakfast. A portion of the meal revenue from Pack Run mornings goes directly to our rescue mission through the Paw Tax.
This partnership works because it is genuine. We are not slapping our logo on someone else's event. We are providing a home base, feeding the community, and connecting the run to a cause. The run clubs bring their energy and their people. We bring the space, the food, and the mission.
If you are new to Canggu and looking for a run club, showing up to a Pack Run morning is one of the fastest ways to meet people who live here. No sign-up required. Just turn up in running shoes and be ready to go.
Once a month, all the pieces come together for Paws and Purpose. This is our flagship event: a 5K run with foster dogs from Mission Paws'ible. You run with a rescue dog, finish at the cafe for breakfast, and meet adoptable dogs over coffee.
Paws and Purpose is where the four arms of The Dog House converge. The Kitchen feeds everyone. The Pack brings the community together. The Rescue puts real dogs in front of real people who might take them home. And The Label captures the energy in content and merch that carries the story beyond Bali.
These mornings are loud, chaotic, and full of dogs pulling in every direction. They are also the most rewarding events we host. Dogs have been adopted because of a conversation that started at table three over scrambled eggs. That is the flywheel in action.
Canggu is full of wellness content. Instagram accounts posting sunrise yoga poses, influencers reviewing ice baths, cafes photographing smoothie bowls. There is nothing wrong with any of that, but content is not community.
Community is the person who saves you a seat at Morning Flow because they noticed you were not there last week. It is the runner who paces with you because they remember your first Pack Run. It is the staff member who knows your dog's name before yours.
We are not trying to build a following. We are trying to build a place where people feel like they belong. The events are the mechanism, but the outcome is connection.
Morning Flow runs every Monday at 7am. Rise and Run happen weekly and biweekly depending on our club partners. Paws and Purpose is monthly. Check our Instagram for dates and details, or just ask at the counter.
We are at Jl. Tanah Barak No.17A in Canggu. Open every day, 8am to 6pm. Come for the food, stay for the people, and bring your dog.

At The Dog House in Canggu, every dish is made without seed oils. We use coconut oil, olive oil, and butter instead, because what goes into your food matters as much as how it tastes.
The Dog House started with a question that most cafes never ask: what if every meal did something beyond feeding the person eating it? That question became a conscious cafe in Canggu where food, community, rescue, and brand all feed into each other.
